In a world of flint tools and thatched roundhouses, sixteen-year-old Col studies with the clan’s shaman, Albyn, talking to the ancestors, mediating with the spirits.
But this year, the summer has failed to arrive, and the barley crop is rotting in the fields. The blame falls on Talla, a mysterious visitor with milk-white skin, and the clan chief threatens to sacrifice her to appease the spirits.
If Col and Talla stay, she will die.
In the dark of night, Albyn tattoos the sacred marks of a spirit apprentice onto each of their faces. He sends them on a journey south, for the ancestors have decreed that they must face the spirits of earth, air, water, and fire to restore the balance of their world.

Lorev, haunted by the ghost of his younger sister, sets out to lay her bones to rest.
When powerful talismans he has been gifted, turn out to be stolen, Lorev must return them before Verra can cross the death river and join her ancestors.
His journey takes him north, to the Isle of Pigs, where a war with a neighbouring tribe has raged for thirty years.

Shilla is content with her lot, except perhaps for the want of a good man, until a vision journey changes her life.
Her brother, Lorev, insists that the great temple she sees in her prophesy, at the sacred site of Stanna, does not exist. Then emissaries arrive to announcing a tribes’ council to discuss the building of a new monument… at Stanna.
Shilla, and her lore sisters, Jeeha and Mai, travel to the sacred site, where Shilla becomes deeply involved in the planning of the new temple. When Jeeha is kidnapped, Shilla and Mai give chase. Can they liberate their sister from a life of slavery in an unknown land? Can Shilla survive and return to fulfil her destiny at Stanna?
Disc of the Sun is a fast paced tale of a woman and her siblings, pitted against the vile forces and misunderstandings that try to thwart her plans to engineer the greatest stone circle of her age.
